Proverbs 17:22

A merry heart does good like a medicine; but a broken spirit dries the bones.

May I introduce you to Eeyore, the very sad soul in the 100 Acre Wood of Winnie the Pooh?  Eeyore is described, by Wikipedia no less, as a generally pessimistic, gloomy, depressed grey donkey.  Little, if anything, makes him smile. 

Eeyore might benefit from reading the Proverbs, for in them God reminds us that a merry heart gives life, and is a significant tonic.  Each of us, I am sure, have Eeyore days.  But when we do, may be reminded of the words of the Proverbs.  May God bless us with true delight as He lifts our spirits and makes light our steps.  And when we do have Eeyore days, may God send us friends like Christopher Robin and Pooh to walk with us until we are out of the woods.
