“Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; neither do they have storehouses or barns; yet God feeds them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?”
Do you know how important you are to God? No really, you! Luke, in his gospel, offers an understanding of God’s concern for all people. Now be clear, this text is not saying that God does not care for other parts of creation (like the ravens), but it does make clear that you, the one reading these words, are vital to the very heart of God. Why? Because God made you in the Divine image and likeness. Why? Because God has plans for you, plans to prosper you (ooops just slipped into the Old Testament Jeremiah 29:11). And those plans include you being a source of goodness in the world, in a way that is unique to you. Each of us, all of us, are called to receive God’s love, and out of grateful hearts, offer our thanksgiving to God by the way we walk in the world. My dear brother or sister, you are important to God. You are beloved of God. May this knowledge bless you this day.
