I Corinthians 6:19
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?
You and I know that inside our bodies there is a heart and lungs and a liver, and all sorts of other assorted necessary parts. But did you know that God has called you a temple of the Holy Spirit? Did you know that God has given you the Spirit to dwell within?
Let’s think about this. A temple is a holy (set apart for God), consecrated place. No one, in their right mind, thinks about desecrating a temple. In fact, we reverence holy places, and are in awe of their beauty and their sacred nature. Beloved, I have just described YOU AND ME!!!! We are temples, set aside by God, consecrated and beautiful to God.
And within us lives a power, the power of God the Holy Spirit. Within us is the triune God in the person of the Spirit. This means, wherever you go, God is already there because you took the Divine Spirit with you. God is closer than your own breath because from within you God inhabits your breath and your very being.
You are a beautiful temple of God, filled with the light and love, the Spirit and the power, that comes from God. Care for this beautiful place as you would care for Community Church or St. Peter’s Basilica or any place where God abides. You are just that precious to God and God is just that close to you. Yes, this I believe.
