Listen! I am standing at the door, knocking; if you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to you and eat with you, and you with me.                                     Revelation 3:20

Thought:

When my doorbell rings, and I am not expecting anyone, I must admit, I am annoyed.  Who is this interrupting whatever it is I am doing?  Who is this barging into my day without my permission?  And OH, when they will not go away? When they ring or knock more than once? THE NERVE!!!!

Yet, that’s exactly what this text is about, a persistent Jesus who knocks at the front door of our being and seems unwilling to take the hint, go away – no one home!  He will not take the hint because He knows, we are home.

Beloved, when you feel that stirring deep within, when you feel that pull to move in a direction, may I invite you to grow quiet and still and ask, “Jesus, is this you knocking?”  Do not fear the answer.  We serve a Savior who is so polite He will not rush our doors or break them down.  He simply stands, knocking, hoping we will answer and invite Him in for a moment together, just us and the One who loves us so.
