Lenten Devotion — Saturday, April 13th
“My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working..” John 5:16
We tend to think about the work of God being completed. But Jesus tells us that God is always at work and so is the second person of the Trinity. They are at work in and for us, always ready to forgive, always ready to redeem, always ready to guide, always ready to correct, always ready to love. Imagine a 24/7 power focused on your good and your hope. And, imagine the cost for this power is zero, nada, nothing. Jesus is at work. Jesus paid it all with his sacrifice on the cross and, he is still working for you and me. May we offer him our hearts in response for all that he pours out. May we offer him our love.
PRAYER: It is almost unbelievable that you lavish your love on us. Thank you, God, for being at work in, on, with and through us. Thank you for never turning away from us. We offer you our love in return. As small as it is, it is what we have to give. Amen.
