Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
When I was a little girl, we shared the house in which we lived with an aunt, uncle, and three boy cousins, all older than I. The house was not a two- flat, it was just a three bedroom house with a two-room full attic. My aunt, uncle and cousins lived upstairs for the first six years of my life. And, as you can imagine, during those years, I was never alone. There were always other people around, and as far as I was concerned, it was wonderful.
But then, when I was in the first grade, my aunt and her brood moved across the street. OH NO!!!!!!!!!!! Relative quiet descended upon my life and it was very strange. I was lonely, and apparently told my Mom I did not like being by myself. And she, wise woman that she was, told me some story about God always being beside me. I don’t remember her words, but the assurance that God is near began that day, and has remained, and I am grateful. This I believe, that the Spirit of the living God is with us, protecting, loving and keeping us. And it makes all of the difference in the world. AMEN.
