Psalm 150

Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.  Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.  Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.  Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

I wonder what would happen if some Sunday, spontaneous dancing broke out in the sanctuary of CCB?  We would likely need smelling salts for some and others might just join in.  Yet the Psalmist is clear, we are to praise God with movement and with our very being.

When the word dance is used without modifiers it elicits images of joy.  God wants us to know joy.  God wants us to know vibrant praise.  God wants us to dance.  May we, in our spirits as well in our bodies, join in with the Psalmist and find moments in our lives and in our worship to simply, joyfully, dance.
