This I Believe: God Longs to Remove Our Sin
THIS I BELIEVE: GOD LONGS TO REMOVE OUR SIN
TUESDAY, JANUARY 5, 2016 — Psalm 103:10-12
[God] does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
How far is east from west? I don’t think we can calculate it and I don’t think the writer of the 103rd Psalm meant us to. What I believe the Psalmist is attempting to offer us is a glimpse into the immensity of God’s love for us.
God, like a good and loving parent, does not love us less when we sin. Instead, because of God’s love, our sin, our rebellion, our willingness to disobey God is washed away by a tidal wave of God’s grace and mercy toward us. Our task is to first recognize that love and then, because of that love, come to God confessing our sin next. And then? Well then, we are positioned and invited to receive the fullness and abundance of God’s forgiveness!
This I believe, that God is waiting to wrap you and me in love and to forgive anything that would separate us from the Divine Heart. Your task, my task, is to believe, receive and be transformed by this amazing love.
