So Pilate asked him, “Are you a king, then?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. I was born and came into the world for this one purpose, to speak about the truth. Whoever belongs to the truth listens to me.”

Thoughts:

On Christmas Eve we gather and celebrate the birth of the Christ Child.  We oohhh and aahhh over the baby and we keep thoughts of Lent far from our hearts and minds.  But in the heat of the final days of his life, as He stands before Pilate, Jesus reminds us that Christmas and Easter are intimately connected.  I was born and came into the world for one purpose, to tell the truth.

How shall we hear the truth that Christ speaks?  What does it teach us, call us to do, offer us?  And are we ready to receive not only the pretty little baby, but what he brings?  Today, may we focus on His sacrifice for us and consider what we might sacrifice for Him.
