Lion and lamb 2-29-16

Monday

February 29, 2016

The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze, their young shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play over the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put its hand on the adder’s den. They will not hurt or destroy on all my holy mountain; for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.                                                 Isaiah 11:6-9

Thought:

Watching the evening news can be too much; too much violence, too much hopelessness, too much entertainment, too much advertising, just too much.  But, the evening news, and the current shape of our society and world, is neither what God intends nor toward which creation bends.  There is, in the mind of God, as expressed in Isaiah, a reign where peace lives and enemies that have once been thought of as natural, simply do not exist.  We are not there yet but, the image painted by the Prophet Isaiah gives us something toward which we can work.  May we each seek ways, large and small, to create the peaceable kingdom, in and around our lives.
