Lenten Evening Series – 6-7:30 p.m. Thursdays

In the introduction to An Altar in the World, Barbara Brown Taylor asks, “What is saving your life right now.” The quote goes on to say, “When I was asked to answer that question, I did not have to try to say correct things that were true for everyone. I did not have to use theological language that conformed to the historical teaching of the church. All I had to do was figure out what my life depended on. All I had to do was figure out how I stayed as close to that reality as I could, and then find some way to talk about it that helped my listeners figure out those same things for themselves.”
Using simple practices like walking and working and getting lost, Brown Taylor invites us to think about how we find what is important, to us as individuals, and how we might remain close to that reality as we stay close to Christ.
