A Sure Foundation 12-21-15
John 8:12
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
The Winter Solstice takes place beginning today. The Winter Solstice marks the longest night (beginning at sundown today) and the shortest day (tomorrow, December 22nd). This is the time of the year when we have the least light and the most darkness possible.
It always strikes me that the birth of the Savior takes place in the season of the Solstice. The One who is the light of the world comes into the world at the darkest time of the year. And, Beloved, the light of Christ is made known to the world through our love and service. May we shine with Christ’s love, especially at this darkened time of the year, and may the world be blessed.
