Matthew 28:18-20 

“And Jesus came and said to them ‘Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’ ”

This passage is called the Great Commission.  It is the marching orders for the disciples.  The disciples!!!!!  The group that contained deserters, doubters, and betrayers.  And though they had walked with Jesus for over 1,000 days, they rarely got anything right.

Geez, Jesus entrusted the Great Commission to THIS GROUP!!!  

Yes, he did and he did so on purpose.  And you know what, the same Jesus entrusts this same commission to another group that includes those with doubts, debts, disabling habits and debilitating patterns.  And [you know what’s coming next], that group is us.  Just as Jesus trusted and entrusted the disciples, so he trusts and entrusts us, with the task and privilege of sharing the good news.  This day, may we find one way to share the good news of Advent, the good news of Jesus’ hope, peace, joy and love.
